The Pitak

Inventor(s): Ronald Pitak

Product Description

The Pitak is a specially designed helmet for wear by firefighters or miners boasting a replaceable filter incorporated into the design of the face shield. The design is to provide a practical means of protecting the wearer from smoke and particulate inhalation while on the job.

Design Features:

• As with traditional helmets, The Pitak could be manufactured of lined Kevlar (or comparable) reinforced fiberglass composite material designed to resist cracking and chipping while serving to protect the wearer from impact to the head. • This sturdy helmet would feature a noncorroding, high temperature face shield and attached chin strap. • Incorporated into the design of the shield would be a molded holder, inside of which a replaceable filter would be inserted, encompassing the wearer’s nose and mouth. • The flame resistant filter would be designed to trap particulate matter such as soot, while absorbing the hazardous gases associated with smoke. The gases could include carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide, to name a few options. • The Pitak could be produced in a variety of sizes to accommodate various needs.

Advantages & Benefits:

• Having a replaceable filter that encompasses the mouth and nose, The Pitak could greatly reduce exposure to carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide and other noxious chemicals associated with smoke and fire. • Use of The Pitak could potentially prevent the short term and long term effects of inhalation, including cardiovascular related injury and death. • Easily donned and comfortable to wear, this unique helmet and replaceable filter could prove an invaluable commodity to any firefighter or miner. • Comfortable to wear, this heavy duty helmet should withstand repeated wear and exposure, with ease. • Additionally, The Pitak can be most useful during helicopter rescues, keeping out the dust, dirt and sand. Also, during rescues that require glass to be broken, The Pitak would shield against the glass particulars.
